“Untold Facts” By TIERs, will Tackle Gender & Sexuality Issues In Nigeria

Nigeria a leading human rights organization in Nigeria, is set to launch a brand new 20-minute online video discussion show entitled Untold Facts.

Untold Facts promises to enhance the visibility of human rights, particularly sexual rights and sexual health rights in Nigeria.

Platforms and initiatives encouraging conversations around sexuality and human rights remains gray in the country, and as a result, many lack a proper understanding of the subjects, especially as it concerns the many issues revolving around homosexuality.

Many people still think that homosexuals are a different set of creatures; in fact many do not see homosexuals as human beings at all. Homosexuals in the country have been labeled as demon possessed and criminals. So in a bid to create a better understanding and shape public discussions, break boundaries, clarify myths, and correct the many wrong impressions that people have around sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, TIERs Nigeria decided to tackle these issues by using its soon to be launched show tagged untold facts.

Olumide Makanjuola, the Executive Director of TIERs, said that the 20-minute show will host interesting talks with medical, legal, and social workers.  He said: “Guests will discuss a variety of sexual orientation and gender identity issues in the context of a broader human rights discussion, including, but not limited to, discriminatory laws and access to services for LGBT persons in Nigeria, the impact of these laws on LGBT and non-LGBT persons, ideas on sexuality and spirituality, violence based on real or perceived sexual orientation and gender identity, visibility, and coming out.”

I Will Witness Freedom – Olumide Makanjuola

Untold facts is set to come in episodes and will be made available on Youtube every last Thursday of the month from 7PM. It will have popular TVC presenter Moses Omoghena as its host.

People are expected to not just tune in to watch the show, but to use the hashtag #UntoldFacts to join it’s conversations.
