Call for Contributions – African Queer Women’s Artistic Journal
HOLAA! in conjunction with Open Society Foundation are seeking to kick off and collect stories and thoughts for an ‘artistic journal’ by African Queer Women. This edition will be hosted on Q-Zine and other platforms (such as the HOLAA! site) and is part of a fellowship by a HOLAA! member for her OSF Fellowship.
The overall theme of the project will be ‘Emergence’ and it is all about African queer women coming up and coming out on to the stage that is the digital and artistic realm. It is all about freedom to be you and do you! The idea is to have any form of expression including but not limited to:
Blog posts
Poems
Short stories
Photo essays
Opinions pieces
Illustrations
The maximum number of words for written pieces are 2000 there is no minimum. Photos and illustrations should be in high resolution, at least 1,000 pixels.
Contributions in French, Kiswahili and English greatly welcomed.
If your piece is accepted and selected for the publication you shall receive $100 USD for your work. Republishing of already produced pieces is accepted as long as they are the author’s original work and copyright belongs to the author.
Deadline for submissions: May 31, 2016.
