Nigerian site invites reports of human rights abuses
A new website launched by the Women’s Rights and Health [WHER] Initiative, a Nigerian civil society not-for-profit organization, allows people report any type of human rights violations in Nigeria.

Akudo Oguaghamba, executive director of WHER, described the site in an interview with the LGBTIQ rights advocacy site NoStringNG. The new site, she said, will make it easy for anyone, regardless of who they are, to report human rights violations from any part of the country. She said:
“The platform will enable all of us to report any infringement on our rights irrespective of your disability, status, age, sexual orientation and gender identity. This way we can collectively have data to hold our government and policy makers accountable and demand for our rights to be respected.”
She also encouraged lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) persons in the country to use the website to report cases of violations. She assured them that their cases will get the appropriate attention. She said:
“We hope that LGBT persons will take advantage of this unique platform to report cases of violations and to make it even more useful to them, we have partnered with other LGBTQ friendly organizations in the country who will follow up on cases of violations to ensure that their voices are heard and not stifled.”
The website displays the total number of reported cases on a map with details of the incidents, including where they occurred.
The website uses high-end security software to provide users with an extra layer of encryption, so all information submitted and exchanged on the website will be secure.

In my perhaps not so humble opinion it is great to see cooperation between people who suffer from abuse! To work togetehr, to fight abuse, discrimination, inhumane treatments! It is an advantage to see that there’s an ability to bring forward complaints about abuse, by everyone who is subject to abuse, discrimination and exclusion, and file complaints as a whole group, not as single individual! Lets hope that this new undertaking will be copied in all other African countries were individuals are subjected to these horrible acts against humanity!
