Popular Nigerian trans woman struggles for life after botched surgery
In a shocking turn of events, popular Nigerian trans woman and Instagram influencer, Daniel Anthony Nsikan, widely known as Jayboogie, is battling for her life in the aftermath of a botched surgery.

The influencer is currently hospitalized, grappling with a severe infection stemming from the surgical procedure gone awry.
Reports indicate that Jayboogie, now undergoing dialysis at an undisclosed hospital, has urgently appealed for financial assistance to cope with mounting medical bills resulting from her precarious health situation.
Known affectionately as Jay by admirers and the public alike, she initially rose to fame on Instagram in her twenties as a crossdresser, captivating many Nigerians with her feminine demeanor. Over time, she evolved into a prominent advocate for the Nigerian transgender community, solidifying her status as one of the most discussed transgender celebrities in the country.
Despite her seemingly flawless appearance showcased in Instagram photos, rumors have circulated about Jay’s various body transformations, including alleged cosmetic surgeries to enhance her feminine features.
However, the tide turned last month when a photo surfaced, depicting a visibly unwell Jayboogie in what appeared to be a hospital bed. The news revealed that she was in critical condition following a failed Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) and Lipo 360 surgery reportedly performed by Dr. Chidinma Okpa at CGE Healthcare.
Amidst her health crisis, Jayboogie, facing a love-and-hate relationship with the Nigerian public due to her transgender identity, has encountered online criticism rather than sympathy.
Many have taken to social media to condemn her attempts to alter what some consider her ‘God-given’ nature.
An update shared on her Instagram account earlier this month disclosed that Jay, an orphan responsible for four siblings, is still hospitalized and has been diagnosed with a sepsis infection and Acute Kidney Injury. Without health insurance, her health is rapidly deteriorating, prompting a desperate plea to the public for financial support as she undergoes ongoing treatment and dialysis.

In a display of solidarity during this critical period, members of the LGBTQ+ community in the diaspora have initiated a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for Jayboogie’s medical expenses, recognizing her financial exhaustion in the face of this health crisis.
