“People should expect greatness”: Nigerian actress on film about 2 women who fall in love

NoStringsNG caught up with Nigerian actress Cindy Amadi for a podcast interview where she spoke about her role in the new and trending Nollywood film about two women who fall in love with each other.

Ìfé is a Nigerian film about 2 women, Ìfé (Uzoamaka Aniunoh) and Adora (Cindy Amadi) who fall in love with each other over a 3-day date.

To learn more about the film, NoStringsNG had an interesting conversation with Cindy Amadi on the NoStrings Podcast.

On the podcast, Amadi who played the role of Adora, a masculine-presenting lesbian, spoke candidly about her time on set, her role, as well as the positive impact of the film in regards to LGBTIQ+ visibility and acceptance in Nigeria.

Responding to people’s negative reaction towards the film, she said:

“They are hypocrites. Some just hate what they cannot understand and that’s ok. But what isn’t ok is oppressing other human beings because you don’t agree with their opinions. I believe everyone has the right to exist and just be, we can all co-exist without trying to influence each other’s ideologies or whatnot”

The film Ìfé which is currently unreleased sparked a lot of conversation on social media about same-sex relationships and female homosexuality after the producer of the film, Pamela Adie shared the film’s poster on Facebook.
