A new drama web series, showcasing the lived experiences of LGBT individuals in Nigeria, is now available for public viewing on YouTube.
Written by Mike Daemon
The YouTube series follows the journey and challenges of four LGBT individuals as they navigate love, life, and friendships amidst Nigeria’s harsh homophobia.
Titled ‘She, He, They,’ the series is the latest LGBT-themed production from Nigeria’s leading human rights organization, ‘The Equal Initiative for Equal Rights (TIERs).’ It was co-directed by two award-winning filmmakers, Uyaiedu Ikpe-Etim, and Ayo T Lawson.
Ikpe-Etim, who is also a screenwriter, co-produced the upcoming groundbreaking film ‘14 Years and a Day,’ a Nigerian LGBT-themed film about a young woman questioning the course of her relationship.
This series, aimed at educating the public about LGBT rights and issues, is a new advocacy project recently launched by TIERs to spotlight and debunk the negative stereotypes and misconceptions portrayed by Nigeria’s mainstream media.
Among TIERs’ past media initiatives are the short film ‘Hell or High Waters,’ ‘We Don’t Live Here Anymore,’ and the web series ‘Everything In Between.’
‘She, He, They’ is available to watch for free on YouTube and can be accessed here.
