It is no news that an LGBTQ person in Nigeria faces up to14 years jail term if discovered.
Homosexuality in Nigeria is perceived to be western induced. Many have used this as an excuse to say that homosexuality is un-african. A large number of Nigerians believe that this proves that homosexuality was never present in Nigeria, and that it was copied from the western world.
‘Homosexuality is a taboo they say’, something that is destructive, demonic and unnatural. Some say it’s just a bad habit that needs to be abolished, and to do this, jailing became the ONLY OPTION to help re-orient the minds of ‘infected’ persons into becoming proper men/women.
But does the prescribed law bring about an actual desired change? Is it necessary? What about those who actively persecute suspected members of the Nigerian LGBT community? Who is the criminal? Who is the victim? Who really should be jailed?

Ride on pls. I love those questions you asked. I wanna say even our governments (ppl governing us) not all but are part of the LGBTs. We won’t wait for them to fight the law. We are ready. Government do worst and also are criminals and they are to be jailed but who is to jail them. They will never jail their families for being LGBT,why another man’s son?. Who’s to be jailed?
